Single-payer healthcare system

A single payer health system is one in which the financing is done by a single entity. This means that a single administrator known as the payer of the scheme would administer the health scheme. This would be a government run organization. They would be the ones who would collect the health care fees by various means including taxation and payout the health care costs as well.
There are several countries who have adopted the single-payer healthcare system to their benefit. The one window elements a whole lot of wastage, brings about more transparency and accountability and in the long run provides for a better health care system.
In the health care system that exists in the US as of now, there is multiple-payer healthcare system being followed. This means that there are thousands of providers and this makes the amount of administrative tasks mammoth in proportion. There are tremendous amount of paper work that needs to be taken care of, different billing systems to be mindful of, plus a whole lot of addresses and telephone numbers that need to be updated regularly. This kind of health care system brings along with a whole lot of administrative wastage in terms of effort, time and money and also is extremely confusing to follow.
The changing health care reform brought about in the US will go on to adopt a single payer system. This will bring about tremendous benefits. The coverage will go on to cover all kinds of health care services from home care, mental health, prescription drugs, rehabilitation to long term hospitalization. The care that a citizen will be offered will be solely based on the medical care need rather than the ability of the person to be able to pay for the services.
There would be nothing like a hospital bill. Rather, the hospitals would receive a lump sum amount at the beginning of each year from the government. This will be to cover their operational spending. A different payment option would be followed for things like hospital expansion, the buying and use of technology.
The doctors would have three options open to them to receive payment for their services. One would be for fee for the service offered by them, another would be for the post that is salaried and third would be as a salaried person within the group practice. The government will not be an employer for the doctors but will only work in the form of an administrator.
Studies have shown that the adoption of the single-payer health care system by the US is not only going to improve the kind of health care provided but go on to save them a huge amount of savings in the form of 100 to 200 billion dollars. This is a whole lot of money to be saved and used in a different more productive way. This can go on to cover more people under the health insurance scheme and increase the health benefits that are passed on to the citizens.
